Allocation of Cross-Border Capacities on the SK/UA Profile to Be Extended to Additional Timeframes

Share

Currently, cross-border capacity allocation on the SK/UA profile is carried out exclusively through daily explicit auctions organized by the Joint Allocation Office S.A. (JAO).
In the near future, coordinated allocation will be extended to another timeframe by introducing monthly auctions, which will also be organized by JAO, just like the daily auctions.

The first monthly auction will take place in December 2025, allocating capacities for January 2026.
All relevant information, including auction rules, is published on the JAO website: Update: Approved Allocation Rules for Ukrainian borders | JAO S.A. Leading service provider for TSOs.

Monthly auctions will allocate physical transmission rights. Market participants will declare their use according to the rules set out in the document “The User’s Guide to Scheduling on the Common Border between SEPS and Ukrenergo / Trader’s Manual Version 2.0”.

Change in Daily Auction Regime as of January 1, 2026

With the launch of monthly auctions, the regime for daily auctions on the SK/UA profile will change as of the trading day January 1, 2026 – daily auctions will be held on D-1 instead of the current D-2, where D is the day of delivery.

Relevant information, including auction rules, is published on the JAO website: Update: Approved Allocation Rules for Ukrainian borders | JAO S.A. Leading service provider for TSOs.

The transition to the new regime will follow this schedule:

  • 29.12.2025 – daily auction for the trading day 31.12.2025
  • 30.12.2025 – no daily auction
  • 31.12.2025 – daily auction for the trading day 1.1.2026

The timing of the daily auction within the respective day remains unchanged; however, the shift from D-2 to D-1 will apply. The time schedule and rules for nomination of daily transmission rights are provided in the document “The User’s Guide to Scheduling on the Common Border between SEPS and Ukrenergo / Trader’s Manual Version 2.0”.

Next Planned Step: Intraday Auctions

During the first quarter of 2026, the allocation of cross-border capacities on the SK/UA profile is expected to be extended to the intraday timeframe.

JAO will also act as the capacity allocator in this case.
Detailed information, including auction rules, will be published on the JAO website and on the SEPS website well in advance of the intraday auctions launch.
