Projects of Common Interest are cross-border infrastructure projects of the European Union (EU) which the European Commission has identified as a key priority for interconnection of energy infrastructure in the EU.

The Union list of Projects of Common Interest is adopted by the European Commission based on the needs of the European network of energy infrastructure. A new Union list should be established every two years.

Projects of Common Interest are eligible for grant funding for the implementation from the CEF – Connecting Europe Facility). CEF is a key EU financial instrument to support growth, employment rate and competitiveness through targeted investments in infrastructure at the European level. The CEF implementation is being managed by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) on behalf of the EU.
