The spring Bratislava hosted the anniversary General Assembly of the Union for the Co-ordination of Transmission of Electricity, continental Europe´s largest system of synchronously interconnected power systems. This was the first time in the UCTE history that this meeting was held in one of the Visegrad Four countries. A foundation UCTE member and the main organiser of the event, Slovenská elektrizačná prenosová sústava, a.s., was honoured to welcome in Bratislava the meeting participants from 21 European countries representing 35 transmission systems. International co-operation on transmission of and trade in electricity as well as the expansion of the UCTE operation to include CEEC´s and the possibility of interconnecting the UCTE system and those of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus were the primary issues discussed by the meeting participants. The General Assembly elected Slovenská elektrizačná prenosová sústava, a.s. Board Chairman and CEO, Ing. Alexander Kšiňan, the UCTE Vice-President.
